Jewish Women's Aid (JWA) is a registered national charity run by Jewish women for Jewish women and their children who have experienced or are experiencing domestic abuse.
- They run a refuge in London where Kashrut, Shabbat and festivals are strictly observed. The refuge houses up to eight women and their children from various backgrounds and levels of religious observance.
- They offer a national confidential free-phonehelpline.
- They provide outreach support to women in the community. Some want to discuss their situations and options. Others are trying to rebuild their lives. All have our support.
- They seek to raise awareness of the existence of domestic abuse within the Jewish community and work towards its total eradication through talks and training for professionals. They offer education sessions in schools which promote healthy relationships and aim to prevent domestic violence in the future.
The Joseph Rowntree Foundation is an endowed charity that funds a large, UK-wide research and development programme. Their research seeks to understand the root causes of social problems, to identify ways of overcoming them, and to show how social needs can be met in practice.
